In a society that continues to grow increasingly dependent on technological innovation, cultural objects have become prone to frequent updates, and ultimately succumb to replacement. Separated from the vehicle that would give them explanation and meaning, these objects continue to exist but cease to maintain relevant functionality. It is these objects that form the physical and conceptual body of my work. Using ignored material—records left on the curbside for disposal, anonymous CD jewel cases, detached internal hard drives, and various other objects—I build monuments, memorials, and shrines to the recent- and soon-to-be-past.
